“Do more with less”. That’s often the mantra facing police forces as they find themselves up against strained budgets and ever-increasing demand. That’s where the Centre for Police Productivity comes in.
Part of the College of Policing, the Centre for Police Productivity is a national hub established to provide practical support that helps police forces to make the most of what they have and get the best possible results. Drawing on national expertise, the Centre develops evidence-based tools and guidance aimed at making policing more effective and efficient.
The Centre is developing several pieces of work to help support forces introduce new innovations and technologies:
Benefits measurement guidance
It’s not enough simply to try something new – you need to know if it works. The Centre’s Benefits Measurement Guidance gives forces a clear, practical way to assess whether their initiatives actually deliver real improvements. Using the guidance, forces can share what works, show return on investment, and keep track of progress at both local and national levels.
Implementation guidance
Designed to support the effective implementation of evidence-based innovations, the Centre’s Implementation Guidance will offer practical advice to help individuals, teams, and organisations introduce new products, services, and approaches in a structured and sustainable way.
Productivity diagnostic insight tool
The Centre is creating a Productivity Diagnostic Insight Tool which will help forces to look at performance data through the lens of productivity, making it easier to spot where improvements can be made.
The first version of the tool will cover residential burglary, robbery of personal property, and shoplifting, with plans to expand to other areas.
